Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – Classroom

ACLS is an advanced , instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. The course consists of lectures, practice  and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. The goal is to improve the quality of care to the adult victim of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Upon completion of this course, each participant will be proficient in demonstrating knowledge and technical skills contained in the course content as administered per the American Heart Association standards and guidelines.

Course Content

- Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

- Adjuncts for Airway Management

- Arrhythmias

- Defibrillation

- Emergency Cardiac Pacing

- Management of Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS)

- Acute Stroke

- Adjuncts for Artificial Circulation

- Special Resuscitation Situations

- Invasive monitoring techniques

- Invasive therapeutic techniques

- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

- Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

- Ethics and Advanced Directives
